Capoeira

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics and singing. The class will begin with a high-intensity whole-body warm-up including the basic elements of capoeira taken from Capoeira Regional, Capoeira Angola and Capoeira Contemporanea (contemporary style). As is customary in capoeira, the session will be based around music (traditional beats, tempo and dynamics) and will include learning the basics of Afro-Brazilian instruments such as berimbau, atabque, pandeiro, agogo, reco-reco, and traditional capoeira songs (Regional and Angola).

Jakub Gontarski

Jakub Gontarski trained at 13 Stunt School in Wrocław. He initiated the String Body programme dedicated to exploring the expression, presence, dramaturgy and creativity of martial arts in the path of Warrior-Performer. To find inspiration, he travels to Brazil, where he takes active part in and documents candomblé rituals. He has co-created many performances, including Animan – I Am Thatand Madhouse, and performs movement improvisations on stage to live music.

Studio Dwóch Ścieżek

Two Paths Studio seeks to develop a training which focuses on the idea of confrontation and opening to new concepts of movement and body work based on the martial arts experience of Studio leaders, Przemysław Błaszczak (aikido) and Jakub Gontarski (capoeira). “Two Paths” are not only two different Japanese and Brazilian movement traditions, but also two different paths: the path of the warrior and the path of the performer. The work of the Studio focuses on how people relate to space (both the workspace and the space of contact with a partner and the group).
