Unlocking

The project started in November 2014 as a pilot cycle of theatre workshops. At the initial stage of the project, Jubilo artists focused on building relations with each of the workshop participants, aiming to overcome the feelings of shame, fear and closure. Starting from February 2015, Jubilo led regular workshop sessions for two groups of inmates: men and women. In April 2015, the participants presented work demonstrations open to fellow inmates and audiences from outside the prison. The second step of the project was the performance Reflection, developed with the male group, based on written and musical materials proposed by the participants, and a poem by Walt Whitman. The performance premiered inside the prison in November 2015.

Jubilo will present a work demonstration and speak about the project and the working process. The talks will include videos, photos and a short documentary.
